Why I started this...

For several years now, I have had a passion to...
1) Help others understand things that we aren't necessarily told...
~Like EVERYTHING...well like 99% of things...stem back to our digestive system
and inflammation! Inflammation usually stems from our diet.
~We can help ourselves by finding the root cause of our ailments...usually
inflammation...not just treating symptoms.
...PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG...THERE ARE TIMES AND REASONS FOR THE
DOCTOR!
2) Help people realize gluten-free doesn't have to be complicated, expensive or...
even more important...TASTE BAD!
~I love food. When I first went gluten-free I settled on the fact that I had to
focus on the things I could have and not focus on the things I could no longer
enjoy. While there are still certain things I just don't really eat much of...like
sandwich bread...I have worked to figure out how to make things I really enjoy
taste like "normal".
~ Processed gluten-free foods usually contain a lot of sugars or starches. I did
not want to eat a diet that wasn't nourishing just because it was "safe". I
wanted good, nourishing foods otherwise was I really helping my health or
was I just creating the next thing to stress it out.
~Focusing on keeping key ingredients in your pantry lets you have quick options to make good food choices without just putting junk in the tank.
3) Life is messy and crazy and sometimes just down right hard. I have always felt
called to be transparent and to want to come alongside people so they don't feel
alone.
~God has given me many life experiences that allow me to relate or have
compassion for those who are struggling in lots of different areas.
~Parenting is challenging and there is no one size fits all. I learned really early
on...I do not ever want to claim to know anything. I don't want to give
unwanted advice to anyone because...the truth of the matter is...each child is different and parents know their kids best.
...What I will do is sit over a cup of coffee...or a glass of wine...or a vodka
tonic and I will listen with a non-judgmental ear.
Today at church our pastor said this "Make your mess your message!" That is exactly what I have wanted to do for years now. Be fully transparent that life is hard. Help people feel better. And to come alongside busy families who have to be gluten-free.
